The UK arm of a global energy-management and automation company, with a London head office, a switchgear factory in Leeds and engineering teams across the country.
Schneider Electric UK sells and makes the equipment that gets electricity safely from the grid into buildings, factories and data centres, and the software that controls it. Its UK page lists automation and control, electrical distribution, building management, critical power and cooling, installation systems, medium voltage distribution and energy automation, and solar. In plain terms, that covers the switches, circuit breakers, control panels and smart systems hidden inside almost every modern building. The company says its aim is to help people use electricity safely and efficiently while saving energy and natural resources.
The group says its purpose is to "create Impact by empowering all to make the most of our energy and resources", under the banner "Life Is On". Its history goes back to the Schneider brothers, who invested in the Creusot foundries in France in the 19th century and later moved into electricity. A graduate-careers profile says the company was named the world's most sustainable company by Time magazine and Statista in 2024. Those are the company's own claims and third-party awards, which we have not checked. The UK business has its own policies on safety, environment, energy and quality, listed on its UK company page.
The UK head office is on Victoria Street in London. The company's careers page says its Leeds factory makes the Ringmaster AirSeT, a piece of medium-voltage switchgear that avoids the gas SF6, which is a strong greenhouse gas. UK projects named on the careers page include Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a partnership with Kew Gardens. Job and apprenticeship listings show engineering roles in Telford. The UK company page says the business works from a number of sites across the country without naming them all, so we cannot give a full site list.
On culture, Schneider Electric's UK and Ireland careers page says inclusion is a daily way of working, that sustainability is central rather than a side project, and that it is recognised among the UK's Top 50 Best Places to Work. It tells the stories of an apprentice who went on to become a business development manager and of a military veteran who moved into a new career. The global figure on that page is more than 159,000 colleagues in over 100 countries. These are the company's own descriptions, so treat them as how Schneider wants to be seen.
The roles in a company like this are wide. There are electrical and design engineers, factory and maintenance staff, project managers who deliver big installations, technical support engineers, sales and business development people, software and data specialists, and the finance, legal and HR teams that support them. The careers page highlights services roles such as cooling engineers and building management system engineers. Studying electrical engineering, physics, maths, computing or business can all lead here, and the Leeds factory shows that making things still happens on UK soil.
