Simon-Kucher

A pricing and growth strategy consultancy that recruits entry-level London consultants mainly through internships.

About Simon-Kucher

Simon-Kucher helps organisations grow by improving their commercial strategy, which means the choices about what to sell, how to price it, how to market it and how to sell it. It calls itself a leading pricing and growth specialist. A typical project might help a company work out how much to charge for a new product, or find new ways to earn revenue, with consultants analysing data and talking to customers to back up their advice.

The firm started in 1985 in Bonn, Germany, as a university spin-off. Its founders were Hermann Simon, Eckhard Kucher and Karl-Heinz Sebastian, who wanted to apply scientific methods to real business problems. Hermann Simon led it as CEO from 1995 to 2009 and then became Chairman. Its first international office, in Boston, opened in 1996. By 2022 it had reached 2,000 employees, and it marked 40 years in business in 2025. Its leadership has changed over time, with Joerg Kruetten and Gunnar Clausen appointed co-CEOs in 2025. It has a London office, hosting entry-level recruitment for the UK.

We did not find a formal one-line mission statement on the pages we read. The company says it aims to help businesses achieve sustainable, profitable growth by optimising every part of their commercial strategy, including product, price, innovation, marketing and sales. Its story page links to an Our values section that we could not read in full.

Its work includes a Global Pricing Study launched in 2011, a book, Monetizing Innovation, published in 2016, and Hermann Simon's work on what he called Hidden Champions (successful but little-known companies). In 2021 it launched Simon-Kucher Engine (software) and Elevate (digital consulting). It reports over 2,000 employees in more than 30 countries, and sectors it advises on include life sciences, with its own Life Sciences internship track. It appears among the one-gold-rating firms in the Financial Times UK consulting index for 2026.

Its London internship listings describe an entrepreneurial, open environment with a steep learning curve, supported by feedback and development processes (the firm's own words). Interns join client project teams from the start and work alongside Consultants, Directors and Partners; internships are the main route used to recruit entry-level Consultants in London, and strong performers may be offered a job. The Generalist Consulting Internship (about eight weeks, from mid-September 2026) wanted a 2:1 or higher in any subject, strong reasoning test results and interest in commercial strategy; that round closed on 19 July 2026. A Life Sciences internship starting in November 2026 runs about 12 weeks. Applications involve a CV, screening questions, timed video questions, a virtual interview and an in-person case-study interview. Both roles were paid, but no amount was stated.
