About Skanska UK

Skanska UK is the British part of Skanska, a construction and project development group from Sweden. In the UK it delivers projects across real estate, defence, education, highways, rail, water and infrastructure, and it also offers facilities management. Its work includes hospitals, stadiums, airports and bridges. The UK business says it has more than 3,300 specialists in the UK, and the wider Skanska group has about 26,000 across the world.

The UK business traces its roots to Trollope & Colls, a London construction company that its own page says dates to 1778. It became part of the Skanska group in 2000, and the company says it is now marking its 25th year as part of the group. Other Skanska names appear in Companies House search results, including Cementation Skanska, which is known for foundations and specialist engineering work, and Skanska Construction UK. We have not read those entries, so we mention them only as part of the wider group.

Skanska UK says its guiding question is "How can we create a positive impact for society?" It lists four values: care for life, which means putting the health and safety of people and the environment first; act ethically and transparently; be better together, which means collaborating, sharing knowledge and fostering inclusion; and commit to customers. It also talks about sustainability, inclusion, safety, quality and integrity. These are the company's own statements, taken from its UK page.

Its registered office is at 1 Hercules Way, Leavesden, Watford, in Hertfordshire. The pages we read did not list other UK offices, though the Skanska UK website has pages for its Scottish business and for offices in several areas, and these were seen only as page titles or redirects. We therefore cannot say exactly where else it is based. Skanska is a long-established presence in UK construction, with projects ranging from the south of England to Scotland.

A business with this range employs engineers, project and site managers, quantity surveyors, planners, designers, sustainability specialists, health and safety advisers, facilities managers and teams in finance, commercial, legal and people roles. The Skanska group also does project development, so some roles are in planning and delivering whole schemes. If you want to work for a company that is part of an international group but delivers projects in your own region, check the Skanska UK website for current vacancies.
