A developer security company that helps teams find and fix vulnerabilities in code. Headquartered in Boston, it was founded in Tel Aviv and London and lists London roles.
Snyk (pronounced "sneak") makes security tools for software developers, the people who write the programs and apps we use. Its products scan the code people write, the open-source software they borrow from others and the cloud set-ups they use, to find and fix weaknesses while the software is being built rather than after an attack. It now calls itself "the AI security company", helping organisations build fast and stay secure in the age of AI.
Snyk was founded in 2015 out of Tel Aviv and London by Guy Podjarny, Assaf Hefetz and Danny Grander, who came from Unit 8200, the Israeli military's signals intelligence unit. Podjarny was the first chief executive; Peter McKay took over in July 2019 and Podjarny became president and chairman. Snyk's headquarters is in Boston, Massachusetts, with other offices in Tel Aviv, Ottawa, Zurich and London. It had about 1,400 employees in 2022.
We did not find a formal mission statement beyond its stated aim to embed security and AI trust into the way software is built and to make the digital world safer. Its approach is developer-first, meaning the tools sit inside the programs developers already use rather than making security a separate step.
Its products include Snyk Code, a cloud-based tool that checks code for mistakes, built on technology from the 2020 purchase of DeepCode; Snyk Open Source, which checks borrowed software against a database of known weaknesses; Snyk Container and Snyk IaC (infrastructure as code, which checks cloud set-ups described in files); API and Web testing; and Secrets detection. It has also added Evo, aimed at the security of AI agents. Its website names customers including Google and Anheuser-Busch InBev, with case studies from DFDS, Atlassian and Smartsheet.
Snyk says it hires worldwide for remote, flexible and in-person roles. In London it has advertised roles such as an Account Director (DACH), a Senior Solutions Engineer and a Channel Manager covering the UK and Ireland, all for experienced people. Job-board search results also showed an Engineering Intern listing on a London job board and an Associate Digital Lifecycle Marketing Manager role, but we did not confirm location, dates or terms, so treat them as leads only. We found no UK graduate scheme or apprenticeship, so check Snyk's careers page for current early-career options.
