About Speedcast

Speedcast is a communications and IT services provider for remote and demanding places. Its customers include commercial shipping, cruise lines, ferries, yachts, offshore energy, mining, rail, media and broadcast, aid organisations and governments. It offers connectivity through satellites, including Starlink and OneWeb, as well as fibre, microwave and mobile networks. On top of that it provides network management, applications, professional services, internet-of-things and cloud services. Its fact sheet cites more than 95 satellites and over 35 of its own and partners' teleports, the ground stations that link satellites to networks.

Speedcast says its mission is to "transform the way remote operations are conducted". Built In London gives 1989 as its founding year and says it has 828 employees and serves over 3,200 customers in more than 140 countries. Its website says it has more than 20 years of work in the cruise, ferry and yachting sectors and that it expanded in Saudi Arabia in 2023. It also announced a new chief executive, Ross Rosenberg, in 2026, and a move towards AI-enabled network and edge intelligence. Named customers and projects include Marella Cruises, COSL Drilling, TGS and the Million-Year Ice Core Drilling Project.

The UK office we could confirm is in Aberdeen, Scotland, the centre of the UK offshore energy business, and the only office listed on its Built In London profile. We did not find a confirmed London office. Aberdeen suits Speedcast's energy customers. A search result also listed a CapRock UK Limited network record, which points to a historic UK business inside Speedcast's group, but we did not read it in detail. We could not confirm more UK sites, and UK headcount is not stated.

The only culture reference on the pages read is a "strong safety culture" and a customer focus, taken from its Built In London profile. Customer support for ships and rigs runs at all hours, so the work involves helping people solve problems quickly, in a company that is global from the start. These are company claims and we have not checked them.

Roles at a company like this include network engineers, field and service engineers, customer support and network operations staff, IT and cloud specialists, project managers, and account managers and sales staff who work with shipping and energy firms, together with finance and human resources. Many jobs involve talking to customers who work offshore. Electronics, computing, engineering, maritime and business studies lead in. Speedcast's own website is the place to check current roles.
