About Sportradar UK

Sportradar is a sports data and technology company. It collects results, statistics and live data for sports events and supplies them to sports leagues and federations, news and media companies, and betting operators. According to a listing on Built In London, it covers more than 750,000 events a year across 83 sports and works with over 1,600 customers in more than 120 countries. Wikipedia lists products including sports results and statistics, audio-visual distribution and streaming (including running NHL.tv operations) and betting odds sold under the Betradar brand. A large share of its customers are betting companies, so the business sits close to the betting industry, but it also runs a division aimed at protecting sport itself, described below.

Sportradar began in 2001, when Petter Fornaess and Tore Steinkjer formed a company called Market Monitor AS, according to Wikipedia. It is headquartered in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and Carsten Koerl is group chief executive. We did not find a mission statement. Its Built In London profile lists values of service excellence, quality and reliability. The part of the business that sounds most like a mission is Integrity Services, which the same profile says advocates for an "integrity-driven environment" for everyone involved in sport. Its fraud detection system began in 2005 as an early warning system after a German football match-fixing scandal, and compares betting-market movements with expected patterns to flag suspicious matches to federations.

In the UK, Sportradar has a London office; Built In London lists it as an on-site office and shows 16 open roles. A job listing names the employer as Sportradar UK Limited. We could not find the office address or how many people work there. Company-wide, Wikipedia gives about 3,900 employees in 20 countries as of 2024; Built In gives more than 2,300, from an older date. Sportradar is an official partner of the NBA, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, FIFA and UEFA, according to that page.

We found no first-party material on culture, so we cannot describe working life beyond the three values above, which are the company's own claims. The London roles shown on Built In suggest the kinds of teams based in the UK: product management, pricing and trading analysis, business intelligence, sales development and account management.

For a student, the useful way to read Sportradar is as a data business. Statisticians, software engineers, analysts, product managers and people who like explaining numbers to customers all fit here, alongside integrity investigators and finance and legal staff who keep a global company running. Maths, computing, economics and sport-related degrees are all relevant starting points. The company's own website lists current openings.
