Studio Weave

A small London architecture studio that creates playful, story-led buildings, pavilions and public spaces.

About Studio Weave

Studio Weave is a small architecture studio in London that designs buildings, pavilions and public spaces from the stories of the places it works in. Its work is often playful and unusual: it has built two allegorical pavilions at Kielder Water and Forest in Northumberland, and it has been working on what is described as the world's longest bench along the south coast and on improving public spaces in the City of London. Other projects reported by the design press include the Floating Cinema, a Hothouse at the London Design Festival, and a terraced-house pavilion on the Greenwich Peninsula.

The page we read describes it as a young practice and gives no founding date or founders, so we have not stated them. It won the Best First Time Exhibitor prize at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2009. The studio says it creates places by engaging with a site's stories, drawing on its physical and geographical qualities, its past and present uses, and its myths and legends, and it values the quirky and eccentric traits that make a location distinctive. We found no separate mission statement.

The studio's headquarters are at 33 Saint John's Church Road in London. Its projects are across the UK, from London and Greenwich to Northumberland and the south coast, as well as a recent Woolwich Market Pavilion and Garden (reported by Dezeen in January 2026) and visitor pavilions at the British Museum reported by ArchDaily. We found no evidence of offices outside London.

Studios of this size usually have a small team in which everyone gets involved in many parts of a project, from sketching and model making to talking to clients and local people. The Archello profile did not name team members and we found no staff numbers, so we have not invented any. Small studios like this often take on a few projects at once, from a seaside bench to a museum pavilion, which gives everyone a wide view of how a building idea becomes real. The studio is a start-up or small practice rather than a large employer.

Roles in a studio like this include architects and architectural assistants, designers and model makers, and project coordinators. If you enjoy art, storytelling, drawing, model making, design and technology or geography, and like the idea of designing small public buildings that people remember, then a studio like this shows what that can look like. Because it is small, the best way to find openings is the studio's own website and social media.
