Supercede

A London reinsurance technology company, formerly called Riskbook, whose platform helps brokers, insurers and reinsurers prepare data and place reinsurance deals.

About Supercede

Supercede builds software for reinsurance, which is insurance that insurance companies buy to share their own risks. Buying reinsurance has traditionally been slow, with teams building documents by hand in spreadsheets and passing them around in long email chains. Supercede's platform brings everyone onto one system. Insurers and brokers share their data, the platform checks and analyses it and prepares the documents, and brokers and reinsurers can then work through the deal together. Its site now describes this as reinsurance intelligence, so that people can see what matters while decisions are still open. It states plainly that it does not automate decisions or replace expertise.

The company started as Riskbook and changed its name to Supercede in February 2021. It was founded in 2019 by Jerad Leigh, who is chief executive, Ben Rose, who is president, and Jezen Thomas, who leads technology. A Lloyd's profile quotes Leigh on the value of engaged mentors and syndicates. An investor profile says the founders wanted to transform the reinsurance industry by making Supercede the central data-driven platform for the sector. An interview with the Insurance Times described the two lead founders as a marathon-running duo, which is how the idea started.

Supercede is a London company. A recruitment-site profile gives its location as Mile End, London, and describes a team of between 11 and 50 people. It took part in the sixth cohort of the Lloyd's Lab accelerator in 2021, was approved in 2020 as a recognised placement tool for Lloyd's, and works with customers across several continents. Named partnerships include Ascot in 2023 and Convex in 2025, and in 2023 it combined its platform with the pricing software of the London company hyperexponential. An investor profile says it counts reinsurers representing more than 95 per cent of the market on its platform.

The pages we could read did not describe Supercede's culture or values beyond the way it presents its product, which stresses clarity, defensible decisions and informed judgement. What the profiles show is a small, technical team with three technical and business co-founders and a close link to the London reinsurance market, which means engineers work alongside people who know how reinsurance deals actually run. Treat the team size as an estimate, because it comes from a third-party listing.

In a company like this you would expect software engineers and designers, data specialists who clean and check insurance data, product managers, customer success and onboarding teams who help brokers and insurers use the platform, people with a reinsurance background who guide the product, and sales, marketing and finance staff. A curiosity about how a very old industry can use data more cleverly is the best place to start.
