A UK education charity that trains teachers and school leaders to work in schools serving the poorest communities.
Teach First is an education charity. It trains teachers and equips school leaders in some of the poorest areas of the UK, working inside classrooms and beyond to end educational inequality. Its programmes include the flagship teaching and leadership programme, school-centred teacher training, a postgraduate teaching apprenticeship and summer projects.
Its vision is 'for every child to fulfil their potential'. It says a child's future should not depend on their postcode, and it has worked towards this since 2003.
It works in England. Its impact page says it has supported 26,500 teachers and leaders across 5,500 schools, recruited 1 in 10 secondary trainee teachers in England, and that more than 1,000 trainees joined its flagship programme in 2026. We did not find its head office address or staff numbers.
The pages we read gave no values statement. The impact page says 37% of trainees are from ethnic minority backgrounds and 28% were eligible for free school meals as pupils.
The leadership programme is for graduates, so it is a route to plan for after sixth form and university. UCAS says it needs a 2:1 or above and GCSE grade 4 or above in English and maths, with a DBS check. It lasts two years, starts with five weeks of training, has no tuition fees and pays you as an unqualified teacher in year one.
