An international climate charity with its headquarters in London, which brings businesses and governments together in campaigns such as RE100, EV100 and the Under2 Coalition.
The Climate Group is a nonprofit that gets big companies and regional governments to make public climate commitments and then helps them deliver. Its Wikipedia entry gives its aim as a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. It runs programmes in which members commit to specific goals: RE100 for companies that commit to 100% renewable electricity, EV100 for the move to electric vehicles, EP100 for energy efficiency, SteelZero and ConcreteZero for low-carbon materials, and the Under2 Coalition, a group of regional and state governments, for which it acts as secretariat. It also helps organise Climate Week NYC.
The group was founded in 2003 and launched in 2004. Wikipedia credits Tony Blair, then Prime Minister, and Steve Howard, its co-founder and former chief executive, among its founders, and says it grew out of research led by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. Mark Kenber succeeded Mr Howard in 2011, and Helen Clarkson became chief executive in 2017. Its 2026 membership overview says the message is that "collective action paves the path to change". It says over 1,000 businesses and regional governments are members, and reports on its impact in renewable electricity, electric vehicles and energy efficiency.
The Climate Group's headquarters are in London, according to Wikipedia, with offices in Europe, North America, India and China. Those opened over time: Oakland in 2006, New York in 2007, Beijing, Brussels and Hong Kong in 2008, India in 2009 and Amsterdam in 2022. A UK board is chaired by Mike Rann. It is registered in the UK as a charity, and a Benevity listing names it as The Climate Change Organisation. We did not find its London street address.
Its pages we read do not describe its culture or staff numbers. The membership overview shows a collaborative style, with members sharing knowledge, working groups on policy, and joint campaigns, and a testimonial from Siemens talks about a broad ecosystem of like-minded companies. Staff are likely to work closely with corporate partners and governments around the world, though that is our inference from the work rather than a stated culture.
Roles in an organisation like this include programme managers and campaign leads who work with members on RE100, EV100 and other initiatives, policy and research staff, partnerships and membership managers, communications and events teams, and finance and operations staff. Interests in climate science, politics, international relations, business or communications all connect to this work. The charity's website is the place to check for current roles.
