About Third Space

Third Space is a London gym group that sits at the premium end of the market. Its clubs combine big gym floors with studios, boxing and combat spaces, cycling, yoga and reformer Pilates, plus recovery rooms with saunas, hydro pools and cryotherapy. A Fitt Insider report of April 2025 described it as a UK-based premium gym with 13 clubs, all in London, and about 35,000 members. In 2024 some clubs added health screening, bloodwork and contrast therapy, which shows how the business is mixing fitness with health checks.

Spa Business reported in November 2022 that the first club opened in Soho in 2001. Other sources give a different founding year, so we treat the date with caution. The company's own mission statement did not appear in the pages we could read, so we have not invented one. What we can say comes from its chief executive at the time, Colin Waggett, who described the Moorgate club as a 'training heaven for amateur athletes', wrapped in luxury, with high-spec facilities, best-in-class trainers and a service tailored to each member. That wording is from 2022 and the leadership may have changed since.

All of the clubs are in London. The 2022 list covered Canary Wharf, the City, Tower Bridge, Islington, Soho, Mayfair, Marylebone and Moorgate, with Battersea Power Station and Wimbledon planned next. Club sizes ranged from about 14,000 square feet in Marylebone to over 100,000 square feet in Canary Wharf. The 2025 report mentions Whiteleys in West London, an upgraded Mayfair club with a Performance Lab, and a three-floor flagship on Oxford Street planned to open in 2027. The company has talked about growing to as many as 30 London sites.

The Moorgate opening shows what working there might involve. The club offers over 100 classes a week, personal training, a food outlet with meals designed by an in-house nutritionist, and technology such as a whole-body scanner and strength-training equipment that measures how fast you lift. The article does not describe staff culture, so we cannot say what daily life is like, and we have not made it up.

The roles a business like this needs include group exercise instructors, personal trainers, nutrition and recovery specialists, front-of-house and membership teams, club managers, and head office teams in design, property, marketing and people. As each new club opens, that means building a new team in a new neighbourhood. If you want to work in fitness in London and care about training, recovery or health, Third Space is one of the most visible names to look at.
