Tide

A UK business banking app for small companies. Founded in 2015 and based in London, Tide offers business accounts, bookkeeping and invoicing, and says it supports over a million small businesses.

About Tide

Tide is a mobile-first business bank for small companies. Owners can open a business current account on their phone and use built-in tools for bookkeeping, invoicing and paying staff. Tide says it helps small businesses save time and money so they can focus on what they enjoy.

Tide was registered in 2015 by George Bevis, a former banker, and launched in the UK in 2017. It is based in London. Wikipedia reports that the Financial Conduct Authority authorised it as an electronic money institution in January 2018, with banking services provided by a partner. Tide's own site now says it supports over 1.5 million small businesses globally.

Its products include business current accounts with a Mastercard debit card, team cards, automated bookkeeping and invoicing, lending through partnerships, and links with accounting software such as Xero, FreeAgent and Sage.

For young people, Tide's UK careers page describes flexible and in-person working, 25 days of paid annual leave, three paid volunteering days and a £1,000 yearly training budget. It does not mention graduate or apprenticeship programmes, so check its listings for current roles.
