TT Games

The Knutsford-based studio behind the LEGO video games, from LEGO Star Wars to The Skywalker Saga, owned by Warner Bros. Games.

About TT Games

TT Games is a British games company best known for the LEGO video games. These include LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Batman, LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Marvel, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Jurassic World and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Its development studio Traveller's Tales is based in Knutsford, Cheshire, and the group also has TT Fusion in Wilmslow, a publishing office in Maidenhead and TT Odyssey in Brighton.

TT Games says it aims to be a leading developer of games for young players and their families. It says it focuses on high-quality entertainment that stays enjoyable for years, and it is proud of its awards and BAFTA nominations, including for LEGO Dimensions and LEGO Star Wars II. These are the company's own claims. Many of its games are playable by families together, with split-screen co-operative play, humour and puzzle-solving at the centre. The LEGO Star Wars series alone has covered all of the main film trilogies, and later titles added Marvel, DC and Harry Potter worlds.

Traveller's Tales was founded in 1989 by Jon Burton and Andy Ingram. It released its first game, Leander, on the Amiga in 1991. After the success of the first LEGO Star Wars game in 2005, it merged with the LEGO publishing licensee Giant Interactive to form TT Games. Warner Bros. bought the company in 2007, and it is now part of Warner Bros. Games. In 2017 and 2018 the group added a Brighton studio, TT Odyssey. We did not find a current total headcount. TT Games also acquired the motion capture studio Centroid and the mobile games developer Playdemic in earlier years, which have since moved on; the group now centres on Traveller's Tales, TT Fusion, TT Odyssey and TT Games Publishing.

The company's pages talk about its teams rather than named individuals, and the public information about its day-to-day culture is limited. A 2022 press report raised concerns about crunch during the making of The Skywalker Saga, so it is a fair question to ask about working hours and planning when you speak to staff. Jon Burton led Traveller's Tales for many years, and the company's long history means many staff have worked on LEGO games for a decade or more.

A group this size employs programmers, artists, animators, designers, audio specialists, producers, publishing and marketing staff and testers. Building small games, learning a game engine and getting comfortable with characters, humour and puzzle design are good ways to prepare. Check the TT Games and Warner Bros. Games sites for roles.
