UK Event Medical Services

An independent ambulance and patient transport company, based in South Yorkshire with bases in the north of England, mainly serving the NHS.

About UK Event Medical Services

UK Event Medical Services (UKEMS) is an independent ambulance and healthcare logistics provider. It runs non-emergency patient transport, high dependency and secure transfers and medical repatriation, mainly for the NHS, and also offers urgent care and mental health transport and paramedic services to GP practices.

We did not find a formal mission statement. Its jobs page says it aims to "strive for excellence in all it does", and its adverts stress compassionate, patient-focused care.

The company is privately owned and based in South Yorkshire. It says it was formed in 2002 to cover local events and has about 300 staff and six UK bases. Its vacancies are in Preston, Scarborough, Hull and Sheffield.

Its adverts describe a "family feel" where staff feel recognised and valued. This is the company's own description. The work runs 24 hours a day, so expect shifts and unsociable hours, and the roles are physically demanding.

It advertises an Emergency Care Assistant Apprenticeship in Salford or Preston, a 10-month programme starting in early September with classroom study and Level 3 ambulance qualifications. Applicants need a full, clean driving licence. Salary is paid during training but no figure was stated. Ambulance Care Assistant roles are also advertised. Check the current advert for pay and age rules.
