Vestiaire Collective UK

The UK arm of a Paris-founded marketplace for pre-owned luxury fashion, with a London office, a warehouse in Crawley and a shop inside Selfridges.

About Vestiaire Collective UK

Vestiaire Collective is an online marketplace where people buy and sell pre-owned luxury fashion: handbags, shoes, clothes, watches and jewellery from well-known designers. Items are checked by the company's in-house authentication experts, who look at features such as fabrics, stitching, logos, serial numbers and date codes against what each brand does, before they are sent to buyers. There are dedicated teams for curation, authentication and logistics. People can also drop off items through a concierge service and the app, and the company has run in-store shops, so selling a bag can be as simple as handing it over.

The company was founded in Paris in 2009 by Fanny Moizant and Sophie Hersan, first under the name Vestiaire de Copines, starting with a few thousand items from friends and contacts. Ms Moizant left the company in January 2026, and Maximilian Bittner is chief executive. Its stated mission is to "transform the fashion industry for a more sustainable future" by promoting circular fashion, which means keeping clothes in use for longer. It has been a certified B Corp since 2021. A recruitment page lists its values as activism, transparency, dedication and greatness, and collective, though versions of the page differ.

Vestiaire entered the UK in the early 2010s and soon after opened a London office. Its company profile also names a warehouse in Crawley, West Sussex. In November 2019 it opened its first permanent in-store shop at Selfridges on Oxford Street in London, stocking about 200 products plus ten vintage pieces made for Selfridges, and offering a drop-off and resale point. That followed a two-week trial there in 2018. The company's headquarters are in Paris, with other offices in cities including Berlin, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore, so UK colleagues work as part of an international business.

On culture, the company says its global team of roughly 700 to 800 people includes more than 50 nationalities. It offers two paid days a year for volunteering and says full members of the team can receive free shares. These are the company's own claims, from a job listing whose date we could not confirm. Its authentication role listing describes training that lets colleagues build expertise and move up through an authenticator career path, though the listing we read was for a US warehouse.

The jobs in a business like this include authenticators and quality-control staff, warehouse and logistics teams, stylists and curators, customer service, marketing and brand partnership staff, and software and data teams. A London listing for a consignment stock room assistant shows that practical warehouse and stock roles exist in the UK, and builtin.com has listed roles in Crawley. If you love fashion and want to work on making it last longer, this is a company to watch.
