UK housebuilder and partnerships developer · Built Environment & Construction

Vistry Group

A UK housebuilder, formed in 2020 from Bovis Homes and Linden Homes, that builds mixed-tenure and affordable homes mainly with councils and housing providers.

About Vistry Group

Vistry builds homes in partnership with others. Its Targetjobs profile says it works with more than 150 housing providers, including local councils and housing associations, to build affordable and mixed-tenure homes, meaning developments that include homes to buy, rent and share. Its brands are Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Countryside Homes for open-market sales, while Countryside Partnerships is its business-to-business name for working with partners. It also runs a manufacturing arm called Vistry Works.

The company's ethos, as quoted by Targetjobs, is "Do the right thing". Its values are integrity, caring and quality, and it describes a "Building Better Together" culture and a "One Vistry" way of working. We did not find a longer mission statement on the pages we read. In 2023 the company announced that it would move towards a model where more of its homes are sold in advance to partners, rather than built on spec for the open market.

Vistry was formed in 2020 when Bovis Homes and Linden Homes came together. In November 2022 it added Countryside Partnerships. The profile says the group's heritage goes back to 1885. It has 27 business locations across Great Britain, but the pages we read do not name them or the head office, so we cannot say more about where in the UK its teams sit. A 2023 trade report said its regional business units would be reorganised into six operating regions.

Targetjobs lists the workforce at between 1,001 and 5,000 people. It describes a culture based on integrity, caring and quality. These are the company's own words and we found no independent staff survey. The mix of brands means people may find themselves working on very different projects, from regeneration of an estate with a council to a new neighbourhood for open sale.

Because of the partnership model, Vistry employs people who work closely with councils and housing associations as well as the usual housebuilding trades. Roles include land and planning specialists, partnership and development managers, quantity surveyors, site managers, engineers, designers, sales and customer care teams, and factory staff at Vistry Works. Subjects such as geography, maths, design technology and business studies help. Check the company website for current vacancies.
