About Wealthify

Wealthify is a UK investing and saving service that works through a website and apps. Investing means putting money into things like company shares and bonds so it has the chance to grow over time, though it can also go down. Wealthify offers a Stocks and Shares ISA (a tax-friendly investing account), a General Investment Account, a Junior ISA for children, personal pensions, ethical investing options, and, since 2024, an instant access savings account and a Cash ISA. It does not give personal financial advice, and its own site reminds customers that investments are at risk.

Wealthify's own timeline says it was founded in May 2014, was authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (the UK financial regulator) in October 2015, and launched its first accounts in April 2016. Aviva's 2017 announcement named the launch team as Dr Richard Theo, a tech entrepreneur, and Michelle Pearce, a chartered wealth manager; a 2020 trade report also named Richard Avery-Wright as a co-founder and chairman. Aviva, the insurance group, became its backer in 2017 and, by Wealthify's own account, wholly owned it by June 2020. Andrew Russell of Aviva took over running the business when the founders Theo and Avery-Wright left; Pearce-Burke stayed on at that point. The 2017 release described it as Cardiff-based, while Wealthify's website lists its registered office in Penarth, near Cardiff.

Wealthify says its aim is to make investing simple and accessible so people can "invest with confidence", with jargon-free products that fit into busy lives. In 2017 Richard Theo said the company would "strive to make investing accessible to everyone", and Aviva's Blair Turnbull said it "aims to take the complexity out of investing". The same release said the company hoped to help one million UK savers become investors within a decade, which was an ambition stated at the time rather than a result.

Customers can start with as little as £1 and choose from ready-made plans of different risk levels, so they do not need to pick individual shares. Other products on its site include pension transfers and consolidation, ISA transfers and an ethical investing option. In 2020 the company was reported to have about 40 staff; Wealthify's own site now says it has over 100 people.

Those teams cover Investment, Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Customer Care, Compliance, Operations, Legal, Finance, People and Partnerships, so there are many routes in beyond finance. We could not verify a culture description or any graduate scheme, internship or apprenticeship at Wealthify, so check its careers page and Aviva's early-careers pages for what is open now.
