About Williams Racing

Williams Racing is a Formula 1 team based at Grove, a village about 20 kilometres south-west of Oxford. It designs, builds and runs its own race cars, and in 2026 it competes as Atlassian Williams F1 Team. Its registered address is Station Road, Grove, Wantage, Oxfordshire.

The team was founded in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams and Patrick Head, and Wikipedia records it as growing out of Frank Williams's earlier racing operation. Its careers site is headed "Create Our Winning Formula" and describes an ambition to win multiple F1 championships. It sets out three pillars, shape the future, make real impact and find your place. We did not find a list of formal values.

Williams has been based in Oxfordshire since 1977. It started in Didcot, first in an old carpet warehouse on Station Road and then from 1984 on Basil Hill Road, before moving into Grove, which was officially opened by the Princess Royal in October 1996. Work to update the Grove site began in 2023, and a wind tunnel moved piece by piece from Didcot ran for the last time in 2025. The site is on the edge of what is called motorsport valley, with other teams and suppliers nearby. Job listings give Grove and Wantage as locations.

The team has won nine constructors' championships and seven drivers' titles, according to Wikipedia. Its current team principal is James Vowles, and its drivers for 2026 are Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz Jr. The team also has a Williams Experience Centre at Grove, offering heritage collection tours and race day events. The team's 114 race wins and 315 podiums, according to Wikipedia, give new colleagues a long history to live up to. Wikipedia notes the company has worked on commercial engineering projects that use race technology.

Careers pages show roles such as race mechanics, aerodynamicists and CFD (computer simulation) engineers, with blog features on chief engineers, garage crews, planning analysts and commercial strategy. The team does not publish a headcount on the pages we read, and salary fields were blank, so check the careers site for current details. The careers page also lists work experience, apprenticeships, placements, graduate opportunities and the Komatsu Williams Engineering Academy as routes in, though we have not checked how current each one is.
