About Wired Productions

Wired Productions is an independent video game publisher based in Watford, Hertfordshire. It has published more than 100 titles for PC, console and handheld systems, including Victor Vran, The Falconeer, Deliver Us The Moon, GRIP: Combat Racing, The Town of Light and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood.

The company was founded in 2008 by Leo Zullo, Jason Harman and Kevin Leathers. It began as a production company making games that used special controllers, including the We Sing karaoke series for the Wii, and moved into publishing console games in 2013. It describes its values as creativity, integrity and hard work, and says it respects the developers it works with. The We Sing karaoke series for the Wii was an early success, and the company's move into publishing in 2013 came as it began to back outside developers.

In an interview, Wired said it sees itself as a partner to its developers and wants to improve games, not just release them. It says every team member has a vote on which games it signs, and that each game needs something new or different to offer and a developer it has a strong relationship with. It prefers games that give players a distinct feeling over guaranteed bestsellers.

Leo Zullo is managing director, with Jason Harman as operations director and Kevin Leathers as a senior producer. The company had 26 people in September 2021 (a dated figure). Mr Zullo describes it as a close-knit "family". It also supports Safe In Our World, a mental health charity for people in gaming. It sells limited "Black Label" physical editions of games, capped at 2,500 copies, and has run its own online shows to talk directly to fans. It has also been shortlisted for awards: The Falconeer, was nominated for a BAFTA Debut Game award.

The company has hired in areas such as product marketing, PR, and social and content creation, which gives a good idea of the jobs inside a publisher: producers, marketers, community and content creators, and business development. If you enjoy games and storytelling but do not code, this is a route to see how games reach players. Other titles it has promoted include Martha Is Dead, Lumote, Arcade Paradise, Tin Hearts and The Last Worker. Following its releases is a simple way to see what a publisher's marketing team does.
