WTW UK

The UK business of WTW (Willis Towers Watson), a global advisory and broking firm headquartered in the Willis Building in the City of London.

About WTW UK

WTW, formerly Willis Towers Watson, is an advisory, broking and solutions company. In the UK its work covers commercial insurance broking and risk consulting, actuarial and pensions advice, benefits administration, human resources and rewards, and investment advice. An actuary is someone who uses maths to measure risk, for example in pension funds. WTW also sponsors LifeSight, a workplace pension scheme that Wikipedia says was the first master trust authorised under The Pensions Regulator's regime in February 2019.

The firm has deep UK roots. Henry Willis began broking at Lloyd's of London in the 1840s, the firm merged with Faber Brothers in 1898, and Watson Wyatt traces back to R. Watson and Sons, founded in the UK in 1878. Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt combined in 2010 as Towers Watson, and that firm merged with Willis Group in January 2016 to become Willis Towers Watson. The group is legally domiciled in Ireland. We did not find a mission statement on the pages we could read.

WTW's principal executive offices are in the Willis Building at 51 Lime Street in the City of London, designed by Foster and Partners and opened in 2008. A 2016 Insurance Post profile gave about 30 UK regional offices and about 4,700 UK staff, but that is dated. WTW job listings for pensions roles name Leeds, London, Manchester, Midlothian in Scotland, Bristol, Birmingham and Reigate as locations, which shows where some UK teams sit. Wikipedia gives about 48,900 staff worldwide in 2024.

We did not find a UK culture page, so we cannot describe day-to-day working life from first-party sources. In its UK business, the 2016 profile named the leadership then as Nicolas Aubert as head of Great Britain, with Alastair Swift in corporate risk and broking and Marco Boschetti in human capital and benefits, though those roles will have moved on. WTW also bought the UK climate consultancy Acclimatise in 2020, which indicates it adds specialist advice such as climate risk.

A firm that spans broking, pensions and benefits uses a wide range of people: brokers and account executives, actuaries, pensions consultants and administrators, data specialists, project managers, HR and rewards consultants, investment analysts and technology teams. The mix of insurance and people-focused advice means you could join from a maths, business, law or economics route. With regional offices from Leeds to Bristol and Midlothian, jobs are not only in London.
