connected and automated mobility industry body (Zenzic-UK Ltd) · Automotive & Mobility

Zenzic

A UK body set up by government and industry to champion connected and automated mobility, the self-driving and connected transport sector.

About Zenzic

Zenzic is the UK's focal point for connected and automated mobility, usually shortened to CAM. That covers things like self-driving cars, buses, lorries and delivery vehicles, and the digital systems that let vehicles and roads talk to each other. Zenzic does not build vehicles itself. It brings together companies, government and universities so the UK can develop and use these technologies in an organised way.

It describes its purpose as championing the UK's CAM ecosystem, and says it was created with one purpose: to accelerate the self-driving revolution. Its stated goal is to make the UK a showcase for world-leading CAM services, which would support export demand and strengthen UK supply chains. It is jointly funded by the UK Government and industry, and is registered as Zenzic-UK Ltd.

Its work falls into three areas. Innovation means running staged competitions that build UK industrial capability. Insight means research and shared knowledge, including the UK CAM Roadmap to 2035 and reports on safety cases, simulation and cyber resilience. Collaboration means events, communications and stakeholder groups that connect the community. It also runs the CAM Pathfinder programme, described on its site as a programme meant to build the foundations for an early commercial CAM market, and a CAM Scale-Up programme for small firms delivered with Plug & Play.

The organisation is UK-wide rather than tied to one city, and its focus is on UK policy, testing and industry. Its pages emphasise alignment between industry, government and academia, evidence-led decisions, and progress that serves national priorities. We could not read named staff or a culture statement on the pages we found, so we cannot describe the day-to-day team.

For a student, Zenzic is a good window into the whole sector. Its roadmap and project directory show which UK companies and projects are working on autonomous transport and what skills they need. Roles in organisations like this tend to be in policy, research, programme management, communications and events, as well as technical analysis, It is also a way to learn which UK projects exist, from bus routes to delivery vehicles, and who is working on them. Following the Zenzic reports and events can help you see which skills the sector is asking for, such as simulation, safety engineering, cyber security and data analysis, before you choose subjects or courses. so it suits people who like both technology and how it is organised.
