ZORB Security

A start-up that lets staff securely reach confidential data from outside the office network.

About ZORB Security

ZORB Security is a very small UK startup that protects people who work from home or away from the office. Its worry is that a company's anti-virus and VPN (virtual private network, an encrypted link back to the office) alone cannot fully protect staff on home broadband from data loss, malware, ransomware and hacking. ZORB provides a fully managed protection service aimed at those homeworkers, and says it costs less than £1 per homeworker per day. That price and the claim of being simple and affordable are the company's own statements.

Public sources are thin on who is behind it. A UK government innovation listing says ZORB is based in St Ives, came out of Anglia Ruskin University as a spin-out and had three employees when listed (the listing is undated). It names its target sectors as financial services, internet service providers, research and development, and legal. We did not find founders' names.

We did not find a formal mission statement. ZORB's profile on the Cambridge Judge Business School site frames its goal as helping businesses meet data compliance rules in hybrid working (a mix of home and office), and protecting data, staff and the business.

ZORB took part in several UK support programmes. It was in the first-year group of CyberASAP, a UK government programme that helps university cyber ideas become businesses. Its listed accelerators are Cyber101 and Cambridge Judge Business School, where it appears under the Accelerate Plus programme, and it was inducted into the NCSC for Startups programme run by Plexal in East London. NCSC is the National Cyber Security Centre, the UK government's cyber authority. We found no named customers or partner firms beyond these programmes.

We found no careers page, no culture information and no early-careers routes. With a team of about three people when last listed, openings are likely rare, though students at universities with cyber societies may find contacts through programmes such as CyberASAP and Plexal.
