Zzoomm

An Oxford-based full fibre broadband provider that builds in market towns across England and has merged with FullFibre and its BeFibre brand.

About Zzoomm

Zzoomm builds full fibre broadband networks into market towns and small urban communities in England and sells broadband to homes and businesses over them. When it announced its merger in January 2025, it said it served 29 market towns across counties including Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Herefordshire, Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Wiltshire and Cheshire, with more than 30,000 customers. It is a vertically integrated company, meaning it both builds the network and acts as the internet provider. Its name is deliberately unusual, and its first network was built in Henley-on-Thames.

Zzoomm was founded by Matthew Hare, who earlier started the rural broadband company Gigaclear, and Zzoomm Group Limited was set up in December 2018. Mr Hare explained that market towns were stuck with slow speeds over ancient copper, and that building in them is tough because of listed buildings, cobbled streets and a mix of underground ducts. The company's own statement of what it does is "serving happy customers with brilliant broadband", and it positions itself as a challenger known for customer service, service quality and reliability.

In January 2025 Zzoomm and FullFibre Limited announced a merger. FullFibre is a wholesale network operator with a retail brand, BeFibre, and about 400,000 ready-to-order premises across 81 market towns, in areas that include Derbyshire, Essex, Gloucestershire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Merseyside, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, South Yorkshire and Worcestershire. Its stated aim is to build a "21st-century digital backbone for the nation" on an open-access basis. Zzoomm is headquartered in Oxford and FullFibre in Exeter. Mr Hare became Executive Chairman and James Warner, FullFibre's chief executive, became Group CEO of the combined business, with about 600,000 premises and over 65,000 customers.

We were unable to read Zzoomm's team page, so we cannot describe its culture or staff in the company's own words. What the sources show is a company that takes pride in service. The merger announcement describes it as known for customer service, and its support site welcomed BeFibre customers into the "Zzoomm family". As a business built in historic small towns, it also has to work with councils, landlords and local communities, so engineers and planners who like problem-solving fit well.

Jobs at a company like this include network designers, civil engineering and construction managers who oversee building, field engineers who connect customers, customer service and technical support advisers, product and marketing staff, and finance and legal teams. Exeter and Oxford are named as bases, so these cities are good places to look. Engineering, computing, business and geography are natural subjects, and practical technician routes also fit.
